Ko Pha Ngan

In short, after two weeks of Cambodia I felt a great desire of being in Thailand, dreaming to fuck around the beaches of Koh Phangan.

It is quite a long way to do it directly. Starting from Siem Reap in the morning, arriving in Bangkok very late, hoping to arrive in time to catch the last night train to Surat Thani, and still find a free seat.

It went well, but what an effort!

From the Surat Thani pier I take a ferry which goes directly to Ko Pha Ngan skipping Samui. We leave at around 12.30. It’s Full Moon Party day. I ask to a songthaew to be brought far from the mess, in the northeast side of the island, in the area called Thong Tai Pan Noi, a nice quiet beach lined with palm trees and an emerald sea

After some failed attempts I settle in a nice bungalow far from the beach, immersed in nature and quiet, 400 baht, Thongtapan Resort

I visit a northern beach, called Bottle Beach, accessible only by sea (alternative is making my way with machetes in the bush)

After a couple of days, I move to Had Reen, the main town in  Ko Pha Ngan, in a secluded and cheap guesthouse

The beach here is very nice. About 20 minutes walk from Had Reen there is another beautiful beach, Had Sri Kantang
